What to expect at the Training event
2:00pm Introduction to Space Academy
A new education programme lead by the National Space Centre using the contexts of space science and climate change as inspirational hooks to enhance STEM learning.
2:20pm An introduction e-mission: Operation Montserrat
Brief background to the mission including the scenario, technology used in the simulation and video clips of previous missions. Participants will explore the Teacher Training Manual and learn about the student teams.
2:50pm Pre-Mission activities
Participants will complete the student pre-mission and calculations training for their mission. The members of the teams are selected for the mission.
3:20pm e-Mission: Operation Montserrat
Participants will form the Emergency Response Team and evacuate the Island of Montserrat during a live link up to the National Space Centre. A debrief follows.
